FYI #042590tp
Here are some of the latest problems and solutions concerning
NetWare 386 v3.0:
1) Problem: If the 386 server abends with "Invalid OP code interrupt" and
they are using NE2000 LAN cards it may be the NE2000
driver.
Solution: There is a new driver that fixes that problem, but it has not
been thoroughly tested yet. It will be made available on
NetWire.
2) Problem: Server will abend with "File Server Process Awakened
Improperly". This happens when using the SMC PC 500 LAN
card and their OS driver that they wrote for that card.
Solution: Obtain a new driver from Standard Micro Systems ph. 516-373-3100.
3) Problem: Server can abend with "Stack Overflow Detected By Kernel"
while printing using the PSERVER.NLM on the file server.
Solution: There is a new PSERVER.NLM that is being tested. It will
be made available on NetWire.
4) Problem: When rprinter is loaded on a workstation and you do a warm
boot of the machine you may get the following error: "Unable
to select printer '#' on print server 'NAME'. Error(776)
Unable to complete initialization process."
Solution: This is not a bug. SPX takes about 15 seconds to time out and
drop that connection that printer had taken on the print server.
If you wait longer than 15+ seconds you will not get the error
when loading rprinter. Maybe an autoexec.bat that loops will
do the trick or something that will cause a delay.
5) Problem: DOS drive assignments made with PATH in the DOS environment
cannot be appended as search mappings after logging in to a
386 server.
Solution: Currently you must append your local paths after logging in by
using the PATH command. The 386 login.exe file was
changed. It will now look at your DOS environment path
statement and append those drives as search drives, whereas
the 2.1X versions of login could overwrite your path
statement assignments. It will be available with the next
release of NetWare 386.
